Before I begin this post, I just want to say a massive THANK YOU to all of you who have already subscribed. A shout out to those of you who have been sharing my posts as well. I appreciate you heaps! You will notice I have decided to brand my site in order to reach more people with my writing and resources. My goal is to teach, equip and empower people to fulfill the Great Commission! Today’s post explains “The Holy Go!”
We’ve turned the Great Commission into the Great Omission.
Jesus didn’t tell us to “Go sit in a Church.” He said, “Go Make Disciples!” Or more literally, “As you go make disciples!”
Keep working, parenting, studying, shopping… Wherever it is that you go - do that!
But this command wasn’t just about location.
It was about intention.
This is “The Holy Go!” A life that is set-apart to go-ing with purpose
Holy Tattoos!
I took Sarah to the circus for our first wedding anniversary. On the way home we spotted a tattoo parlour and just had to mark the occasion. (Literally!)
We wanted to get matching tattoos that said, “Holy to The Lord.”
It’s a phrase regularly used in Scripture. It’s the idea that we are set apart, made separate from, for the purpose of worship, devotion, love.
We wanted our marriage to be “Holy to The Lord” and we wanted the whole of our lives to be “Holy to The Lord.” (Or as the title of my first ever blog was “Wholly Holy.”)
So we walked in and started chatting to the tattoo artist. He was a bikie with a great sense of humour.
Suddenly a man walked in through the doors and asked for “John.” Our tattoo artist said he didn’t know any John.
“Are you sure? Daveo sent us by here… He’s in prison and someones stolen his bike. We know who it was too…”
Our tattoo artist replied, “Ohhhh…. John. Yeah he’s out the back sleeping. I’ll tell him you dropped by.”
This went back and forward for a while and we realised they were arranging a rescue operation for this stolen bike, along with a little street justice. The man left and we got back to tattoo design.
As we shared what we wanted out tattoo artist (who I am sure was John!) became very inquisitive about what “Holy to The Lord” meant. He went on to share his love for the old Salvation Army man who used to love and protect his family. (A crazy story for another day!)
As we were getting our tattoos we shared our testimony with him and explain the gospel to him as we got our matching tattoos that stated we were “set apart” to The Lord for His purposes - even while getting inked up.
The Holy Go
This is a perfect example of the Holy Go!
We didn’t start a Tattoo Shop ministry.
We “go-ed” about our day
We were “set apart” to The Lord
And as we go-ed we were able to share the gospel
What if Jesus isn’t looking for you to join another ministry to clog up your calendar? What if He simply wants you to set apart your “as you go” day?
We don’t need more sitting churches, we need more sending churches.
We need:
People who have a “Holy Go!”
People who take the exciting gospel into the every day mundane
People ready to Love the hell out of their city
People who rush into the dark to shine the light
People who don’t just go to Church, but people that be the Church on the go
Faith that stays in the pew doesn’t change the world.
It is time to say good-bye to safe religion and say hello to faith adventures!
Imagine what it would look like if the entire Body of Christ was mobilised like this!
We could have missionaries in every school, sporting club, and work place.
And imagine what it would look like if we trained our people, not just to share the gospel, but to actually make disciples that make disciples. We would have a movement that would transform our Nation!
So how do we get there?
We give God our “Holy Go!”
Bro! 🔥! Let’s GO!!
